Product Testimonials

Hi all at Capt. Joes, I just wanted to let you know that Paul at Old Pine Island Marine and Tackle turned me on to your SS Minnows two weeks ago. Paul by the way is really impressed with them and is a great ambassador for your products.

Well let me tell you, I have tried everything on his shelf and nothing works better on Redfish, Sea Trout and Snook. I have been fishing the Pine Island area now for over 15 yeas and I must say that I have never caught as many fish on any of my other trips to the area.

We caught over 20 Reds, hundreds of Sea Trout and I caught my first ever Snook. Needless to say I will never be on the water again without the SS Minnows and the Capt. Joe Jig heads.

Please keep up the good work and I am going to tell anyone that will listen to use the SS Minnows Thanks again, Rudy E.

I ordered 30 of the pink Silly Willy jigs from you last month and wanted to tell you that they work fabulously. I tie a small (#4) chartreuse feather and tie it to the same loop knot for the jig and mostly just drag or slide it across the current. I have caught over 200 pompano and permit to 27 inches in the last three weeks on this combination.

Your jig seems to have a small "keel" that makes it different from those I have used in the past. Right now - the yellow jig is not producing as well as the pink. I don't know why. Last year, in our area, the pink became the color of choice, even though for 30 years I had always fished yellow. I use the 3/8 ounce jigs on 4 or 6 lb test mono with a 4 foot 20lb fluorocarbon leader. We tend to always be in rapid current and the lighter jigs won't stay down.

That said..... Monday, we had 35 to 40 mph winds and shouldn't have been out. I took our youth pastor and another friend out to test a theory about the tides and jigs. Since neither or them were "working" the jig on the bottom nor could we feel our line I thought we would be skunked. We couldn't keep the jigs down but as the current swept them around the pompano took them near the surface.

The water clarity was excellent and they had to have been hungry. The color combos must have been what the wanted. We caught 23 in about an hour (to 5 lbs) fishing in 9 to 11 feet of water in the St. Lucie Inlet. Go Figure! Bill S.

So, How did you do in the fishing tournament? I have been catching a lot of smaller snook, on the last few SS Minnows that I have. I am using black and white with 1/4 oz red Joe Jig that I also get off you, and it is also one of the nicest on the market as far as I'm concerned, (and the fish lke it to). Believe me, I have used every jig head on the market in the last 30 years and this one by far has some of the nicest action that I've seen.

To prove this I fished next to a friend of mine who used just about everything in his tackle box and every color of jig head he had along with soft plastic until he finely asked to use the mighty SS Minnow with one of the Joe Jig heads, and after 10 cast he also was catching fish like I was.

I do have other brands of jig heads, but those are my GO TO'S. When I run out of yours I have to go to my others, and you know as well as I do, that can make you or break you sometimes.

As far as the reds they seem to be pushed up in less the 20" of water on the low (HOT MUD on sunny days) and around anything with feeding water (cuts into the mangroves) or deep drop offs with flowing water where I'm fishing in upper Tampa Bay. Good Fishing from, Mark

Hello, Its David the kayak guy. You know the one that doesn't use the SS Minnow. Well guess what, I tried the one you gave me this past Friday, and all I can say is holly CRAP!. I do not know what I did different or if it was the help of the Pro-Cure, but I caught 7 or 8 fish including two black sea bass. I was just sorry I did not have any more if them because the last bite on the minnow the fish took off the paddle tail and it was done.

I am going to try to get to Osprey today and buy more. What is the best size and weight jig head for the SS Minnow, and how long does it take when I order from your e-bay store? Also, I have tied the loop knot you showed us last Monday and never knew to pull it down from the top like you did or pinch the knot to keep the size. I tied the best loop knots this past Friday then I have ever done in years. Thanks.

Let me know when you want to go fishing and I will buy the gas. I am off Thursday and Friday. You can use this email address or the one you have on file. Thanks again for the info. Oh, what do you think is the best color SS Minnow for reds and do you do much fishing in Tarpon? David the kayak guy in Dunedin.

Hey Captain Joe; I wanted to let you know that I used your SS Minnow Gold/green/red yesterday. I am new to the area and am still figuring out where to go.

I did fish a lot of Tampa Bay early in the year but we moved our boat to Turtle Cove Marina in Tarpon Springs on the Anclote river. I was fishing on the south end of Anclote Key just to the north of the south pass by the light house. I was using live bait and getting few bites. I NEVER catch anything on lures but decided to try your minnows.

I barely had time to get a feel for using it when I got a bite on the second cast. I got some small cobia, mackerel and trout on the minnows before I got a bite on bait. I was crossing from about 10 feet to 7 feet of water. Anyway, that was why I decided to order some more.

I did lose a lot of tails off the minnows and several of the fish spit the jig hook before I got them to the boat. Any ideas on the hook up? Would turning the hook to the bottom of the minnow help? Well thanks for coming to the class and inviting us to your seminar. It was very helpful. Any tidbits on where I should look for fish in that area? Best of luck and tight lines at the tournament. Bring home the gold or green. Rick

Joe - The circle hook teasers you sent me with my last order of Silly Willy Pompano jigs are great! - fishing from Jensen Beach bridge (east side) and as you know, without a net, it requires snatching the fish up about ten to twelve feet. With the circle hook I know I have kept at least three that would have almost surely gotten off in that move. Love them and will order some more with my next order if you offer them.

I went fishing today in a HONEY HOLE and was using a D.O.A. swim bait and caught 8 smaller reds and 7 big trout and 4 or 5 lady fish, so I was going through my bag and found some black and white SS Minnow with a red jig head (yours of course).

On the first cast, after just 2 twitches of the bait, and boom a 18 and 1/2 LB snook. I let him go and made another 10 casts or so and boom again, a big ass red. I make another cast and wham a 5 and 1/2 pound bass. At this point I'm wondering what the hell is in this bait SS Minnow).

Needless to say I got 3 more bass over 4lbs and a couple more big reds and another snook but it was only a little over 16 lbs. I can say that the SS Minnow out fished the D.O.A. as far as catching bigger fish.

I will say I caught over 28 fish in one spot and the spot was no bigger then half a football Field. I'm going back Sunday morning and if I have the same results I'll be looking to get some more of those SS Minnows off you.

Hey Captain Joe, as you know we took 5th this past weekend at the IFA Ruskin event. Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks! Your Boss baits helped us catch the fish we needed.

Mickey Gibbs

Hey mate, I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how pleased I am with my purchase from you. I caught several nice largemouth on them this evening. My feedback I left you shows my satisfaction. If it is not too much to ask is there any way I can find the color combinations that these swimbaits come in. I am getting ready to make another purchase from you and this would help greatly. If you want to make suggestions that would be fine also. I am looking something in a bluegill or bream color and maybe baby bass for largemouth fishing. I am also looking some colors for some inshore fishing for flounder, specks, and reds.

Thanks a lot, Todd Satterfield

Thanks Joe, Your Edje hook was no doubt a key component to our victory in the HT Cup this weekend! During the week of pre-fishing I missed several fish using some other brand of hooks. On the final day before the tournament I switched to a 5/0 Edje hook and the results blew me away, not only did I land more fish but I was also getting more bites! I know its sounds crazy to attribute more bites to a hook but what I realized was that the almost clear soft plastics we were using to imitate the grass shrimp the fish were feeding on appeared more life like with the Edje hook. The painted weight on the hook looked just like the dark spot in the head of the grass shrimp. This combination will no doubt be a staple in my arsenal from now on! Thanks Again, Capt. Joey Sostheim

Received the jigs. Glad to see that they have good hooks, better than those on similar jigs I bought on Anna Maria. Thanks.

Hey Captain Joe,

I bought one of your products over at Gandy Bait & Tackle, the Edje weighted weedless hook, 1/8 oz. 3/0. Used the hook this weekend up inshore @ YankeeTown and caught this 24 in Black Drum up close to the shoreline. Thanks for a great product, the best I have ever used. Here is a picture of the Black Drum.

trout

Hi Joe,

Went out fishing yesterday looking for a big trout for the on line tournament. Wind was a bother, water was dirty, wasn't doing too much, then the tide turned and I was fishing one of the spoil islands South of the causeway and BOOM I caught trout for 1 1/2 hours straight on almost every cast, they were not big but what a time I had. The trout were running from 12" to 17 1/2" and the majority of them were caught on the gold S.S. Minnow, the first couple were caught on a jerk bait, then I switched over to the S.S. Minnow and they were not hitting it, they were devouring it. I am now a believer. Here is a picture of the biggest one, but I forgot to put my number in the picture.

I got about 7 casts worth of fishing on Jocassee on July 4th with mom in law in the boat. We went up into a creek tributary. Threw the white S.S. Minnow, like I do, and -- whammy. Nice Kentucky bass. Water was absolutely beautiful -- 8 ft deep with grass standing underwater about 4 foot high. It looked fishy, and I cannot wait to go back.
